Welcome to the Harbour City Newcomers Club of Nanaimo, B.C. Our club (HCNC) was established in October, 2007 and we have been growing ever since! We meet each month at the Oliver Woods Community Centre where we have the opportunity to sign up for a multitude of activities and special events. Our meetings are casual and fun, as well as informative. We frequently have a local guest speaker, but like to make sure that we have time to socialize, too. We will help you get to know both the City of Nanaimo and a great group of people who have something in common with you - we’re all “new” here, too! We hope that this website will give you an idea of the scope of the club and we encourage you to contact us – or come out to one of our meetings and meet us in person.
Who We Are
HCNC is open to both men and women - singles or couples - who are new to Nanaimo and the surrounding area. Our club is run by volunteer members who form our Executive Committee and act as Activity Conveners. We are incorporated and belong to the National Newcomers Council of Canada.
Our mission is to provide friendship and new opportunities to individuals who have recently moved to the Nanaimo area. Our club wants to help you create a new social network in a casual, supportive, and fun environment. We want to share our experiences in this paradise that we now call home!
